Howley Energy & Water Ltd is owned and run by Iain Howley. Iain is a third generation ground drilling engineer who followed his grandfather and father into the world of water well drilling. Iain has vast experience in water well drilling. He drilled his first well in charge of the rig and crew at just 17 years of age – a 225m deep 312mm diameter well to supply water for the new skid pan at Nuneaton’s Motor Industry Research Association ( MIRA ). In more recent years, Iain has designed and overseen some of the UK’s highest yielding wells to form part of open loop ground source heat exchange systems in the UK. Understanding geology and hydrogeology is clearly important to the drilling of wells but just as importantly, is having the knowledge and experience to know how best to penetrate the UK’s diverse ground conditions to ensure that the well meets the demands made of it for years to come.
